Civic Programs

Civic programming empowers students to become informed, engaged, and responsible members of their communities. Through opportunities to learn about government, advocacy, voting, and public service, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to make their voices heard and contribute to positive change.

Campus Initiatives

Find out new ways to civically engage on USC's campus! Dueing this week students will get to hear from nationally recognized speakers, learn more about the USC Consitution, and how they can enage civically on campus!

Vote in the Student Body Elections for the next Student Government Executive team and your College Senator!

If you are a Graduate Student you will also get to vote for the Graduate Student Association Executive Board!

The Student Body Elections Debate, moderated by SGTV, is where students running for Student Government Executive positions are able to debate their respective opponents by answers questions provided by the moderators. 

University of South Carolina students will gather at the S.C. State House for Carolina Day to advocate for the university and highlight its role in empowering students to build a more prosperous and healthier South Carolina.

For the past 2 years the University of South Carolina has been a voting location for Richland County voters!

 

National Initiatives

This is an opportunity to celebrate our democracy and provide opportunities for students to register to vote.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787.

This week aims to bridge the gap between registering to vote and actually casting a ballot by providing tools, resources, and community engagement opportunities

Your Vote, Your Voice Kick-Off Event

Stop by our kickoff table to learn about voter registration, absentee voting, election deadlines, and helpful campus resources. Share why voting or civic engagement matters to you on our “Why I Vote” board, pick up a sticker, and get connected with tools to support your voting journey.

Voting Myth vs. Fact

Think you know the facts about voting? Put your knowledge to the test with our interactive Myth vs. Fact activity. Learn the truth behind common questions about voter registration, voting while away at college, absentee ballots, and more.

Time: 3:30PM-4:30PM

Voter Education Tabling

Stop by our Voter Education Table to learn more about voter registration, upcoming election deadlines, absentee voting, and how to make a plan to vote. Whether you are voting for the first time or simply have questions about the process, this is a great opportunity to access nonpartisan resources and get connected with the information you need to make your voice heard.

Know Your Ballot

Voting is about more than one race or one office. Stop by to learn what may appear on a ballot and how local, state, and federal elections can affect your daily life. We will share nonpartisan resources to help you research candidates and issues before Election Day.

Make a Plan to Vote

End Voter Education Week by creating your personal voting plan. Identify where you are registered, how you plan to vote, important deadlines, and any next steps you need to take. Whether you plan to vote on campus, in your hometown, or by absentee ballot, a plan can help you feel prepared.

This is a nonpartisan national celebration honoring the election officials, staff, and poll workers who ensure a safe, secure, and accessible voting process for all Americans.

This is an annual event aimed at promoting media literacy education and its essential role in society.

The event aims to unite students, faculty, and community members to advocate for a system of higher education that serves the public good.
