Commonly Asked Questions about Academic Advising in the Darla Moore School of Business
Some required courses in the Business School are restricted so that graduating seniors can register for them first. A senior is defined as a student graduating in the next 3 terms (i.e. Spring, August, or Fall 2026 for the Spring 2026 registration cycle). These courses will drop the senior restriction after all general registration is finished. You can read the course description for the exact date that these courses will open. Advisors email students to let them know which courses will be impacted by this restriction.

Fall advisement for the upcoming spring semester typically begins early September and lasts through October.
Spring advisement for the upcoming fall semester typically begins in late January and lasts through early April.
Drop-In Hours
In addition to scheduled appointments, academic advisors in the Moore School are available by phone, email, or weekly drop-in hours. Drop in hours vary based on the advisor. Contact the Undergraduate Division by phone at 803-777-2191 or check your email for an email from your advisor with their drop in times.
Changing Majors into the Moore School
Students interested in changing majors into the Darla Moore School of Business must submit an application for admission to the Moore School. The application is available in January of each year and must be submitted no later than March 1 of that year. All students who are admitted will begin in either the Summer or Fall semester after acceptance. Admission into the Moore School is highly competitive and not guaranteed.
Students must also meet certain GPA, credit hour, and coursework requirements in order to gain admission into the Moore School. If you are interested in applying to the Moore School, meet with an Exploratory Advisor to see if you meet all necessary requirements.
