All SSC workshops will occur in person and facilitated by student leaders or staff. The Student Success Center's workshop offerings are below. Please submit presentation requests at least three weeks before you would like them to occur. We will contact you within three business days after you make your request.
Please note, University 101 presentation requests will only be managed through the Schedule Center platform. Requests made here for those classes will not be honored.
Academic and General SSC Workshops
This presentation will highlight the services provided through the Student Success Center including tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic skill building, money management and more. Participants will create an action plan for how to best utilize these resources.
Study Smart will provide participants with effective college level study tips and strategies. Students will complete activities related to higher order thinking.
In this workshop students are introduced to college level writing tips and strategies. Through a guided activity students will learn how to get started on their next writing project.
This workshop will cover time management skills and strategies to help students avoid procrastination and accomplish their goals.
Request a visit from a Peer Writing Tutor. This will be a brief overview of what the Peer Writing and Communications program at the SSC offers, and how it can benefit students.
Are you a member of a Greek Organization? Request for Student Success Center Peer Leaders to come to your chapter space and hold drop-in hours specific to your organizations needs.
Financial Literacy Workshops
Credit Smart will provide participants a basic understanding of all things credit. Topics include things like what goes into a credit score, how to choose the right credit card, and why your credit score matters.
In this workshop students will learn about the different types of emergency funds on campus, how to find external resources, and the most important savings starting points.
Most USC students live off campus after their first year and with that comes a whole different financial responsibility. This presentation will cover the in's and out's of off campus living expenses and help students start to learn to navigate their financial obligations off campus.
It is never too early to start thinking about your financial future. In this presentation students will learn the fundamentals on investing with a specific focus on retirement investing.
This workshop will provide students with a deeper look into their current spending habits. We also will go over budgeting strategies and introduce participants to credit and debt.
Smart Spending Overseas will help you begin to build your pre-trip budget and plan for spending while you are studying abroad. Students will get additional tips on finances like creating a budget including the conversion rate and tips on preventing identity theft.
This USC personalized board game simulates post college spending and how students' financial choices while in school may impact them after they graduate. Students will get the chance to learn about their financial choices in a hands-on experiential environment.
