The University of South Carolina offers a paid research internship to study climate change perceptions and adaptation.
Why it matters: This project targets understanding of climate change and its impact on adaptation strategies, specifically in relation to extreme heat events in Allendale County.
Tasks include:

Qualifications: An interest in environmental issues is required, with preferred experience in spreadsheets, Python, R, or social surveys.
Compensation: $15 per hour for 5 to 10 hours weekly, with travel expenses covered.

The Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society (CCHAPS) is looking for a college student to assist with digitizing their collection of photographs, historical documents, and artifacts. This internship is a great opportunity for students interested in library and information science, public history, humanities, museum studies, or a related field.
About the Internship
As a Digitization Intern, you will:
- Digitize historic materials, including scanning and editing images.
- Create descriptive metadata for the digital archive.
- Prepare finding aids according to archival standards.
You will learn:
- How to work with historic, primary-source photographic materials
- How to digitize historic materials and create metadata
- How to describe materials and create finding aids according to archival standards
Requirements
- Student interested in library and information science, public history, humanities, museum studies, or a related discipline
- Comfortable handling potentially fragile collection materials
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to accurately manage files and tasks
- Strong verbal communication skills
Compensation
- $15/hour
Work Environment
- The majority of the work is done in an office setting.
- This is a non-smoking/vaping environment.
Schedule
- Part-time temporary internship (66 hours total)
- To be completed before April 18, 2025
- Flexible weekly hours, but must coincide with department office hours (Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
