Background

Blake Garris joined the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at the University of South Carolina in December 2024 as its first instructional video and multimedia technologist. Garris is a versatile producer, director and writer with extensive experience in video production, multimedia marketing and talent management. He has collaborated with major brands and organizations, including MrBeast, Marvel Entertainment and PBS.

Garris served as a development producer for MrBeast, where he booked celebrity talent and produced content for the world’s largest YouTube channel. At Marvel Entertainment, he managed video and content production, creating daily multimedia campaigns and interviewing high-profile talent. His role included strategizing video optimization techniques and hosting a top 20 iTunes podcast.

As an event coordinator for the City of Charleston, Garris produced parades, concerts and inaugurations. He also worked as a technical supervisor at Kiawah Island Resort, managing audio-visual setups for high-profile corporate events and celebrity clients. His ability to handle complex logistics and deliver seamless productions has made him a trusted leader in event execution.

Garris’s earlier roles include producing and directing Emmy-nominated documentaries and news programs for PBS. He also taught video production and new media at the University of South Carolina, mentoring undergraduate students in creative storytelling and technical production. His work has been showcased on CNN, MSNBC and Fox Sports.
