Awards

The Arnold School of Public Health proudly recognizes exemplary faculty, students and alumni with a set of distinguished awards in each category. Nominations are held during the spring semester, and the awards are presented each year during the annual Hooding ceremony, which coincides with May graduation activities.

Faculty Awards

Established in memory of a former professor and associate dean of the Arnold School, the James A. Keith Excellence in Teaching Award is designed to recognize teaching excellence. The Faculty Research Award recognizes a faculty member with an outstanding scholarly record. The Faculty Service Award recognizes a faculty member who has provided exceptional outreach to the community, made significant contributions to public health practice, or provided leadership in professional organizations or university governance. The Faculty Research Mentorship Award recognizes a faculty member whose exceptional commitment to research mentorship strengthens our academic community and elevates emerging scholars.

Student Awards

Recognition for the most outstanding doctoral graduate is bestowed through the Doctoral Achievement Award, while the most outstanding master's-level graduate is honored with the Jeffrey Keith Mattison Award. These school-wide honors are complemented by an array of elite honors for master's and doctoral graduates across each of the six departments.

Alumni Awards

Established in honor of the School’s greatest benefactors, the Gerry Sue Arnold Alumni Award is open to all alumni who graduated less than 10 years prior to the current year and whose work has both made a difference to the profession and in the health of an identified community or population. Also in honor of the Arnolds, the Norman J. Arnold Alumni Medal is open to all alumni who graduated more than 10 years prior to the current year and whose work has had both a positive impact on the profession and on the health of an identified community or population and has brought recognition to the Arnold School of Public Health.

Staff Awards

Launched in its inaugural year, the ASPH Staff Member of the Year Award celebrates the dedication and excellence of staff who make a meaningful impact on the Arnold School of Public Health. This new award honors individuals whose commitment, professionalism, and service strengthen our school community and support its mission. Through this recognition, ASPH proudly highlights the essential contributions of staff in advancing teaching, research, and engagement across the school.
