Families and Supporters

It’s great to have you as part of the Carolina family at the University of South Carolina! We recognize the important role you play in your student’s success and invite you to join us on campus for New Student Orientation.

Family and Supporter Orientation

Your program runs concurrently with the New Student Orientation and focuses on a wide range of topics including academics, health and well-being, financial aid and services to support your student’s success. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with faculty and staff and chat with other Gamecock families.

  • Your student will need to add you as a supporter in their Orientation Portal at my.sc.edu. Please ensure they enter the correct email address, so you receive all Orientation communications. Students can update or add supporters at any time.

    • Spring, Summer Term and August Orientation: $65 per family member/supporter
    • Fall Freshman Orientation: $130 per family member/supporter
    • Fall Transfer Orientation: $65 per family member/supporter

This fee covers all materials, resources, meals and parking for your session. Families and supporters should arrange off-campus overnight accommodations.

  • If you require accommodations for mobility, hearing, vision or dietary needs, we’re happy to help. Your student can request accommodations during the Orientation registration process by completing the “Special Accommodations” section. We recommend updating any special accommodation no later than a week prior to your session.

If you have questions or need assistance, contact the Orientation Office at 803-777-2780 or email us at orientation@sc.edu.

  • Family and supporter overnight accommodations are not provided. We suggest booking off-campus hotel accommodations once your student has received confirmation for the New Student Orientation session.
